My Background
I've most recently finished up six years of federal service working in the immigration and environment sectors. I worked in the Los Angeles Asylum Office under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services assisting asylum seekers in English and Spanish with the application process and legal procedures from July 2016 to June 2018, later moving to the Nebraska Service Center to work as an Immigration Services Officer, where I reviewed and processed I-751s, Petition to Remove Conditions of Residence, from June 2018 to January 2020. I most recently worked as an Education Technician for the National Park Service at Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail in Omaha, Nebraska from January 2020 to July 2022, developing and presenting education programs for students of all ages and building new community partnerships in the metro area. I joined the Global Experiences Office in August 2022 as a Global Experiences Coordinator for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. I'm beyond thrilled to return to work in the education sector, where I can advise students and help them find the right global experience that will fit their needs and goals. While working at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I'm also pursuing a Master of Science degree in natural resource sciences with a focus in applied ecology. My thesis will focus on vegetation recovery following the October 2022 wildfire in Nebraska National Forest.
My Study/Work Abroad
My first international experience was in Queretaro, Mexico, where I interned in the International Programs Office for the Tec de Monterrey Campus Queretaro as an Assistant Incoming Student Coordinator from August 2012 to August 2013. After completing my bachelor's degree in international studies, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Indramayu, West Java, Indonesia from March 2014 to June 2016, teaching English to high school students and engaging with local community partners to implement education workshops and leadership development programs.
My Ideal Next Travel Destination
I'm always eager to get back to Mexico to visit my friends and my host family. I would also love to visit Germany and Oman.
