My Background
Kate is the Assistant Director in the Global Experiences Office (GEO). Kate manages office operations, supports GEO coordinators in advancing their college's strategic aims, helps faculty develop their programs abroad and manages relationships with Affiliate Program Providers. Kate oversees Global Experiences Scholarship programs and works with students applying for national education abroad awards like the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, Boren Awards, and Critical Language Scholarship. Prior to joining the Global Experiences Office, Kate was in London working for an Arabic Language Center where she was also a student on their Arabic certificate program. Kate also worked for an international conflict resolution NGO in London focused on strengthening public dialogue and promoting peace and democracy. While in graduate school, she gained experience through a virtual internship with the U.S. State Department consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan. Kate has a Masters degree in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies from the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at King's College London, and a Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She loves making Middle Eastern dishes and will gladly share recipes!
My Study/Work Abroad
As an undergraduate at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, I had several education abroad experiences in Rome and London, and on a multi-city program in Paris, Brussels, Munich, Prague, and Berlin. I also completed a full-time semester internship in London during my senior year. After graduating, I returned to London to complete my Masters degree at King's College London and lived there for nearly two years. Outside of study and work, I've traveled to over 20 countries and can't wait to visit more!
My Ideal Next Travel Destination
There are four big trips on my list: Exploring Croatia, Greece, and the Mediterranean; French Wine Country; Southeast Asia - especially Thailand and Vietnam; and Argentina.
